After finishing his training in cardiology in New York, Dr. Tejani decided to stay and practice where he grew up. Over the course of a decade, he rose to be the Chief of Cardiology at the same institution where he trained. Along the way he was responsible for training over a hundred and fifty fellows, participate in over a dozen multi-center clinical trials, contributed to several book chapters and is an editorial consultant to over ten peer reviewed journals. He has also appeared as a medical expert on multiple US news outlets. He has also served as consultant to various companies assessing the technological feasibilities prior to acquiring the companies.
He is one of the earliest adapters of electron beam CT and multi detector CT and has been involved in trials and presentations both nationally and internationally and has been a part of the advocacy committee of Society of Cardiac CT. He is one of the earliest adapters of outpatient peripheral intervention laboratories and has multiple patents granted and patents pending in interventional cardiology, endovascular interventions and trans catheter aortic valve replacement, a new and innovative approach to aortic valve replacement without open heart surgery.
During his hospital tenure, he was a member of hospital executive committee.
Dr. Tejani has had multiple academic appointments at the level of Associate Professor at Mount Sinai Medical center in New York, State University of New York at Downstate in Brooklyn and St. George University Medical School in Grenada West Indies.
He practices cardiology with a specific focus on peripheral arterial and venous disease diagnosis and management.
He is recognized as an expert in venous disease diagnosis and management. He has patents pending on the venous insufficiency treatment devices.
